Hi guys,

I am using the Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro card with the 6193 drivers.

But I only get 11250 3dMarks with my rig. All anti-alasing is off.

Is this score normal?

My rig:

Athlon XP 2200
Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro
512 MB CL 2,5 DDR 333 Kingston @ CL 2
Epox 8k5a3+ mobo

well I think it's not that normal. go and have a look at you settings, cos i get 13236 pts in cl2.5,22 mode and 13981 in cl2 mode and I have only bad m-tec ram

PC ->
XP 2200+
ATI RADEON 9700 Pro Reference Board
512 DDR 333 ram (m-tec, with original cl2.5,3,3)
ASUS A7V333 mobo

Yeah, I get 12480 with my GeForce4 Ti4400 & Athlon 2000+, so I'd say thats not right somewhere.

1300 is not that much 4 an xp 2200 i guess...
my xp 2200 system made 14700 with the 6178 ver., now with 6200
i get some 145xx, and the only difference r corsair rams, wich should not make that much now, 145-146 fsb is the limit 4 this system...
and drivin` at 145 km/H is not really faster in a porsche than in a train...
so, maybe u can tweak a little more out of your new honey...

Mhh.. more than 13356 is not possible.

Ok, i have nothing overclocked, I only setted the memory to more agressive timing.
I don t tried to overclock s.th.

Maybe I have a slower preproduction card ? Caused I received this card directly from hercules to write a review.

But when the card is that much slow i can not write a good review.

Best
Niels

16000 + more is no prblem here though, of course not with my xp 2200...
benching my p4 2.6@3.17 with my 2nd 9700 i got 16500 with 6178,
16300 with 6193 and now 16000 with the 6200`s...
but non-overclocked i don`t have any ideas what the scores would/should
b like...
benching is fun and a good test 4 reliability, but 2 or 3 frames more in
i.e. botmatch ut2k3 mean a really visuable gain, 10 frames in 3dmark
r meaningless, just my2cents

@degger : why not try 351/351 with stock cooling? worked fine 4 my 3
ati`s, even with fsb overclocked this was the borderline 4 stock-cooling,
without the losses in stability some peepz exposed..
have fun

 to all the overclockers -> your scores are not competitional! With a higher FSB it is NORMAL that you get freaking high scores. A 13500 points with normal stock DDR333 on a 2200+ not overclocked IS NORMAL. The xp2200+ ati combo is fast, but you won't take the stars from the sky with a NORMAL config.
So, if you are disappointed by the score you get with you hercules, only 13xxx.. , you shouldn't probably read the articles about freaking high scores on mad overclocked systems, or visit the homepages "YEAH -> 22000 pts in 3dmark with my p4 clocked at 4 GHZ!!!". The ati is the best card you get in store right now. the xp2200+ is also still more than a average computer. I have to work all day on a PIII 450 with 256 RAM, Vanta, and UDMA 33 harddisks!! this thing is awfully slow.
And show me one game which is SLOW on your computer... I don't think that you'll find only ONE today.
Ok, you may now think, if it's not faster today, how could it be tomorrow. A small example: only with optimized drivers, nvidia pushed the gf2 by more than 25% from the first drivers to the last. The ati is still new, and so are the drivers. The catalyst 2.4 (beta 6193) is the fastest driver til now on my system, with a 10% faster pixelshader performance than the catalyst 2.3. So you see, that there is more coming.. That's all I have to say right now.

normaly you are right but not in this point.

Fakt is, that my pc is slower than similiar pcs including the reference pc´s from hercules with same config.
Also I have to write a review about the card cause it s a review example from hercules and so i have to figure out where s the problem.
If i not would do and i would write "card on this system is dammed slow, on similar systems not" i would get trouble with you and with hercules cause the review would not be true.

That s why i am asking.
It must be possible with that card with oc to get 13500 + cards, thats for shure. Or the card is broken, that also could be.

well.. you did notice the change of the score setting the cl to normal (2.5) or turbo (2). on my computer it was a change of more than 1000 pts from 12901 to 13981 (with older drivers I think).
So the score of an your xp2200+, lying around 13300 is still normal for me (the result of normal ram settings is way lower). I even read a review in the internet of an p4 2.4B with corsair ram, and it did not even reach 13000.
If you have the possibility to test the card in an other computer, try it. If the card is broken, it wouldn't work at all or make errors, but it won't perform like it do.
I give you my fastest details from the 3dmark2001 (the 13236 score with the 6193 beta and CL 2.5-2-2 timing)

Game 1 - Car Chase - Low Detail 178.1 fps
Game 1 - Car Chase - High Detail 57.8 fps
Game 2 - Dragothic - Low Detail 260.2 fps
Game 2 - Dragothic - High Detail 138.4 fps
Game 3 - Lobby - Low Detail 155.9 fps
Game 3 - Lobby - High Detail 67.6 fps
Game 4 - Nature 100.9 fps
Fill Rate (Single Texturing) 1776.7 MTexels/s
Fill Rate (Multi Texturing) 2551.8 MTexels/s
High Polygon Count (1 Light) 60.3 MTriangles/s
High Polygon Count (8 Lights) 15.0 MTriangles/s
Environment Bump Mapping 201.2 fps
DOT3 Bump Mapping 204.6 fps
Vertex Shader 177.0 fps
Pixel Shader 205.0 fps
Advanced Pixel Shader 196.9 fps
Point Sprites 38.8 MSprites/s

I don't know if it's a good reference (it's not the highest score I got, but my ram didn't take it too long when they are set to CL2-2-2. With this drivers I can hit the 14000 mark in CL2 mode)

Try also some test like Ut2003 benchmark (162 fps flyby and 62 fps botmatch). Or CodeCreatures, where you should get 38.8 fps or something like that in the average.

And bench your config in sisoft sandra (especially memory bench, where I get 2 times ~2000 mb/s with my cheap m-tec crap).

Well.. I don't know anything else to say.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMD XP 2200+
Coolermaster HSC-V62
ASUS A7V333
512 MB M-TEC DDR333 CL-2.5-2-2
ATI RADEON 9700 Pro Reference Board

ask for more details and/or tips (not sure if I can tell you usefull stuff, but I try)

got my brand new amd 2400 2day, and guess what? nothing has changed
2 the good... here it means i had 2 lower the fsb a little 4 a stable run
through everything ( this is my server )...
4 the 3d markers the numbers changed from 14500 2 148xx, but the top
fps and the shitty fps of every single test r lower!!
so i`ll build my xp 2200 back in and change 2 intel with the rest of my
little network. some peepz told me, amd is at the end/on the edge of/with
their technique, at least 4 now and the near future, so i won`t try 2 b the
firt "hammer" user in town...
comin` back 2 topic now, when "scoring" 14800 with older drivers (6178)
and scoring 14800 with newer drivers and 200xtra mghz is what i get,
i think degger 4 sure can live with 135xx without overclocking something.
compared 2 the 7 9700 comparison linked on ur frontpage, u gotta hell
of a system

Hey man where did you get that Hercules 9700 Pro? I've been looking for one of those since the 9700's came to market in Europe. If you know of a website that I can order from please let me know. Thanx in advance.
