Hi guys, I wander if you can help me with this one:
I have recently downloaded the official Windows Media Player 10 but when I finally got it installed I realized that it won't play any mp3 file! Of course I know that something wrong is with my system. When I try to play an mp3 file the player starts searching the net for the codec, doesn't seem to find one and then I get a message saying:
"An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help."
:-?
As most of you probably have guessed , Web Help isn't much of a help actually, so I'm counting on you people to give me a solution to this problem....
****UPDATE*****
OK guys, let me explain myself...
First of all I totally agree with Hancoque about Codec Packs, most of them are bloated with codecs old or rarely used or both, and all they do is stuck up in your system...
Now believe me when I say to you that I may be new to this forum but I'm not in any way a newbie at computers... My point is, I have installed mp3 codecs since I saw this problem, but I had one installed before all of this came out and I had no problem with MP9. The codec I used and still use is LAME, but since this problem came up I've installed the Fraunhofer codec (by Radium) and the ffdshow mp3 codec (I already used ffdshow for video decoding). I ended up with 3 mp3 codecs installed, tested all kinds of players like Media Player Classic, BSplayer, Real, Crystal, and they WERE PLAYING the mp3 files , but with a WMP 10 refusing to play them!!!
Now, either there is something wrong with my head :knife: , or there is something wrong with that player. I have reinstalled , uninstalled and reinstalled it again, but still the problem remains....
The rest, I leave it to you people...
Be good and be cool....
