Something I hope takes into consideration...I have a 9800 Pro, and i play everything just fine...why is it that all the benchmarks are with the x series..this sucks..like 75% of all ATI owners i know are skipping this generation. Why wont more people who do benchmarking include the 9700 pro 9600pro and xt..9800 series, and all that good stuff...their still great card. Iknow why nvidia wont talk about the FX line andmore..its cause they were sh%t and they knoew it lol but now their good again. Anyways thats my rant..If anyone else has any rants lay em on me

indeed ...
most reviews lack some serious comparison ...
I really love those which compare 6800 XCSSA vs 6800 ASJHDJAH
which is even more BS since most cards (if not OCed by default) are pretty much equal in any case

but I also do understand that benchmarking does take a serious amount of time and .... you know ...

but you hit the nail

The problem is Ati/nvidia are releasing cards that are way too pwrful for any game for that matter. Just to make a buck they both release cards to compete with each other kinda like two kids playing fight over the army toy. lol

Eg. 2 x 7800 GTX in SLI mode wont get a game for it for about 3+yrs. So all it is, is bragging rights and a way overpriced PC. :)

Its all about $

Those reviews are meant to sell latest software and hardware. They are inherently biased and subject to sponsor $$$ influence. And People use to make that "3DMark" thing the ultimate base-line good/bad decision-maker, and now hardly no one gives a damn about it.

Well if you guys do decide to jump into the reviewing arena..Id happily represent the United States as a tester :) All you gotta do is start sending me products and BAM they'll get reviewed :) but nothing outrageous that people dont buy. Like dual 7800's omg how rediculous...even 1 is rediculous lol the best card from nvidia for bang for the buck is prolly the 6600GT and the best from ATI is the x800Pro

I wouldn't say these next-gen cards are over powered. SLI is totally overpowered and CPU limited but one 7800 GTX is actually a really good idea if you're serious about frame rates and image quality. I like to run games at 1280x960 with 4xAA and 8x AF. Without something like an X850XT your not going to get this.

9800 Pro has roughly the same performance as the 6600GT so the best thing to do is is to go and check the performance of this card against something like a 6800GT to get an idea of how the 9800 Pro stacks up.

the 9800 pro is a great card indeed ... but you have to compare more then just framerates ...
the 6800 (not the GT) is faster ... not much more expensive (~150€) and produces much less heat + less power is used i.e. over time its cheaper then a 9800 pro
and for ~170€ you can get a passiv solution without some crazy Zalman cooler

at this time I would recommend a 6800 (NOT GT) to anybody who wants to buy a new card and does have to look at Performance/price ratio
for AGP

for PCIe I would act different and buy a real PCIe card
(the 6800 is a native AGP card - one main reason why I would always choose a 6800 for an AGP system instead of a 6600GT which is a native PCIe only card)
