I'd love to know why .... but it beats me.

I've tried Opera, Mozilla, and IE 6. Same time, every time. After less than a minute, whilst scrolling down, the entire machine freezes, ultimately requiring a hard reboot (Ctl-Alt-Delete doesn't work, and I can't get to the task manager).

My system is an AMD Athlon XP 1800+, ATI Radeon 8500 64m card, Win2k sp3 with all the updates, 1g of memory, Abit KR7A raid.

I don't have this problem with any other web page I visit, thus my conclusion is that it is unique to the Warp2Search main page. I am using Java 1.04.

Any ideas what may be causing the freeze and/or what I can do to prevent it??

Hi there,

Your problem sounds really bad. I heard of it, that the IE6 sometimes have problems on some website but not anytime.

Sorry I cant help you, if anybody else have problems like this, please leave a comment.

I found the solution on the Rage3d boards. And apparently I'm not the only one with the problem.

Turns out it is a .dll file in the latest (6118) Catalyst drivers for the ATI Radeon cards. I replaced the .dll with one from an earlier version and the problem disappeared.

Oddly it was only your main page that caused the lock up. And it would lock up every time. I would get an occasional lock up at the CAD, also.

Happened in Mozilla, Opera, and IE6.

Anyhow, now the problem is identified and the solution at hand.
